Plastic nail boards are not meant in isolation as there may be other reasons for an acrylic nail box, especially if your paint is going to vary significantly from the polish used in the DIY-based polish. For example, if the model you are using is currently coated with a dye polish, if your nail polish isn't being applied to the outside of your nail, perhaps you want to use a different colour or finish. This can increase the risk of chemical reactions and problems with the paint, and so you will usually need to check with your supplier.
