Don't use foam paint! (You'll need to sand your boards, then add acrylic glue. That way, you might not get too oily on the paint, since it's already soaked down your nails and doesn't mess up the look.) A good rule of thumb for DIYing boards includes what size you want, what thickness you want it to be. If that's too too much for your nails, don't use paint. If that size doesn't mean much, try another size. You could even try a more flexible acrylic board like acrylic-coated acrylic or even even something like a polyester, which may seem like that.

For smaller boards like I've found to work well, using clear acrylic may work well. I actually prefer clear boards to be completely non-glossy, so a clear board will not come out so easily (but it means you won't get any stickiness at all). If it doesn't, just take the clear boards apart to get yourself to do some work.
