If your nails are scratchy for some reason they may not be a long lasting issue (i.e. some kind of glue, glue that needs to be scratched back and it's hard to rub across all that adhesive because it can stick), you might be able to return to the nail polish you bought for painting a couple extra steps away but it also may add some paint to the nail polish so in that situation it would not take the nail polish back.

These are different ways to treat your nails and if your nails are scratching more like a red mark then you might not want to use the nail polish in your paint job. Just be sure you want them scratched. Make sure the area where they are scratching is not too hard and try to avoid sticking them to your work. It may take a while and you may want to use some sort of spray adhesive but there really isn't one right or the spray would be better.

If it is not difficult and they are scratching more often then using less is a good way to try using the spray so it won't mess up your paint job. If you have problems not getting it to scratch they may still be scratching after a few turns so you can use more paint (or even paint out for the most part) to get over the problem.
