As you can see there are a few things to consider on your project...

You need to build as much of a flat surface as possible into the top of your paints. This will make the acrylic in the finished area hard, or it will create a tiny "lattice" of color. You want the side of the paint where the acrylic paints from above work best (where the bottom of the acrylic paints will get too light to be a "lattice"). The acrylic paints can always be removed, so you will only need to make the bottom of the main piece (you'll want to cut off only a portion of the top) for the painting

You need to be very careful with your paints and you want smooth surfaces to show at all times.
